Well it's not a road sign, I'm sure there's lots of stories of what one of these birds are a sign of.   Not sure why but my little sister loved this bird, she used to just watch them.  They scared me and I always knew there was a funny smell in the air when I saw them come around.  We did love to lay on the ground though and see if they would land.  I think I would have had a heartattack if one had.  This is one of my favorite pictures I took of one.  I also took a picture of a sign up in the area I saw this incredible bird.  I love Smokey!

This is from Tess, it goes along so well!

The vuture eats between his meals
And that's the reason why
He rarely ever, never ever
Looks as well as you or I.
His head is bald
His eyes are red
His neck is growing thinner,
Oh what a lesson for us all
To only eat at dinner!

Thanks Kimberly loved this challenge

Your bird looks like a turkey vulture (buzzard)  and you know it is a sign of something decaying. So it really is a sign so to speak. It's a great picture. Helen

Your photograph of the vulture made what is generally perceived as an ugly bird look beautiful. Excellent shot.

::pondering:: Wonder why Smokey the Bear is not used in commercials like he once was?
